Spanish Conversation for Heritage Speakers & DLI Students
Ages: Children ages 5–12
Language Level: For children who already speak or understand Spanish, including students enrolled in a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program
Description:
This class is for children who already have Spanish in their lives and would like more opportunities to speak, practice, and feel comfortable using the language. It is a good fit for children who speak Spanish at home as well as students who are learning Spanish through a DLI program at school.
Through conversation, stories, games, questions and answers, and interactive activities, children practice expressing themselves in Spanish, expand their vocabulary, and learn to use the language in a variety of everyday situations.
The focus is on speaking and listening. Children have regular opportunities to talk with their instructor and classmates, share ideas, describe experiences, ask and answer questions, and practice using Spanish beyond the classroom.
The class provides a welcoming place for bilingual and Spanish-speaking children to keep using Spanish, strengthen their speaking skills, and become more confident expressing themselves in the language.
No Class: Please note, this class will not meet on November 28.
Materials & Classroom Resource Fee: A $15 fee is collected by the instructor on the first day of class. Please bring the fee in cash in an envelope labeled with your child’s name.
