Language Level: Level 1 — For complete beginners and students with some Spanish experience who are new to ILSCA
Description:
This welcoming drop-off class gives children and teens ages 10–15 a comfortable place to begin learning and using Spanish. It is a good fit for students who are completely new to Spanish as well as those who have had some Spanish at home, school, or another program and are new to ILSCA.
The class changes with the seasons, introducing new Spanish vocabulary, expressions, topics, and activities connected to the time of year. Students explore themes such as nature, weather, holidays, celebrations, everyday life, and cultural experiences, while continuing to review and build on language they have already learned.
Through conversation, questions and answers, games, stories, interactive activities, and guided practice, students begin using Spanish in simple, practical situations. Lessons give students opportunities to listen, speak, build sentences, learn new vocabulary, and interact with their instructor and classmates.
The class provides a supportive place for students to become comfortable hearing and speaking Spanish, build their vocabulary, and develop their communication skills at their own pace.
No Class: Please note, this class will not meet on Feb 13 & Mar 27
Materials & Classroom Resource Fee: A $15 fee is collected by the instructor on the first day of class. Please bring the fee in cash in an envelope labeled with your child’s name.
