Language Level: Level 1 — For complete beginners and children with some Spanish experience who are new to ILSCA.
Description:
This welcoming Spanish class gives children ages 6–9 a comfortable place to begin learning and using Spanish. It is a good fit for children who are completely new to Spanish as well as those who have heard or used some Spanish at home, school, or another program and are new to ILSCA.
The class changes with the seasons, introducing new Spanish vocabulary, songs, stories, and activities connected to the time of year. Children explore themes such as nature, weather, holidays, celebrations, and familiar everyday experiences. Each season brings new vocabulary and activities while continuing to review and build on words and phrases children have already learned.
Through songs, games, stories, movement, conversation, and hands-on activities, children practice listening and speaking and become more comfortable using Spanish. They have opportunities to answer questions, interact with their classmates, and use Spanish in simple, everyday situations.
Children are encouraged to participate at their own pace while building their vocabulary and becoming more comfortable hearing and speaking Spanish. The class provides a supportive starting point for children who are new to the language as well as those who are continuing from previous Spanish experiences.
No Class: Please note, this class will not meet on Feb 13 & Mar 27
Materials & Classroom Resource Fee: A $15 fee is collected by the instructor on the first day of class. Please bring the fee in cash in an envelope labeled with your child’s name.
